About Us

WHAT IS INGAWAY CHURCH?

Ingaway Church is an autonomous and free Church offering Bible-based worship and pastoral care to those in our community. We are an evangelical Christian Church which means:

  • we have a tradition in keeping with Protestant Christianity;
  • we emphasise the authority of the Bible; and,
  • we believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ's atonement.

We support the work of Churches Together in Basildon.

We are a charitable incorporated organisation registered with the Charity Commission. Our registered charity number is 1199066.

We are committed to ensuring that Ingaway Church is a safe place for all. Our Safeguarding Statement is available to view here.

AT INGAWAY CHURCH, WE BELIEVE . . .

 . . . in one God, Creator of the universe who is revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Bible is the Word of God, given by direct inspiration to its authors, and is the only and complete authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Mary, while she was still a virgin, gave birth to Jesus – God in a human body. Jesus lived a blameless life, was crucified, died on the cross, and was buried. On the third day He rose from the dead and appeared to His followers.

Only Jesus, of all who have lived, has come up to God’s standard. All others have failed and are unfit for God’s presence. Jesus suffered the full penalty for the sins of all in His death on the cross.

God calls on everyone to confess their sins and to turn from them. Anyone who asks God’s forgiveness, trusting in the death of Jesus, will be reconciled with God.

The Holy Spirit works to show people their sin, to call them to faith in Jesus, to reveal the meaning of the Bible, and to guide in daily living.

After His resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven, from where He reigns.

Jesus will return in glory to judge all who have ever lived and to begin His everlasting reign with all who have put their trust in Him.

Ingaway Church was built in 1962 when the road from which its name is derived was constructed.

The Church celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2022. For more about the origins and journey of Ingaway Church, see our History page.
